SDG14
For Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 14, we present our artefacts from problem discovery to problem-solving. We first produced two posters to inform the audience about the ocean issues that SDG 14 focuses on and why these issues will affect the future development of the marine environment. These two posters explore targets 14.7 and 14a. They describe the challenges facing today’s marine environment and what sustainable use of marine resources means for the future of humanity. We then use a documentary and feature to illustrate various pathways that have the potential to achieve SDG 14, from individual to technical levels. Our documentary focuses on how individuals achieve target 14.b. It tells the story of individuals taking action to ensure the sustainable use of marine resources in island regions by recycling waste from fishermen. The actions featured in the documentary also protect the fabric of local small-scale fisheries from the effects of ocean pollution. Our feature provides readers with marine debris recycling technologies that are non-hazardous and easy to operate. The remarkable results of the pilot project indicate that this technology is expected to achieve target 14.1 (significantly reduce marine pollution of all kinds) after further development in the future.
